A busy January for sure here. Projects so many projects. Crazy weather so cold one minute so warm the next. Yesterday an amazing 15 above water running everywhere and ice.
Yesterday the boys moved our Billy goat out we have a month and half until kidding starts. There is nothing worse than having to look over our shoulders all the time. However the dogs have been barking so much last night I am really hoping the ole goat is still in.This Buck has been horrible to keep in one place, he is the biggest baby.
I have been busy redoing our Kitchen. I great project tile, paint, swirling paint, sanding tables in the middle of the kitchen and washing curtains. Also the pantry was hit too that was one big mess.

I have been extremely busy. Farming cleaning the barn and this up and down weather is crazy.

We are enjoying our Christmas break. It is wonderful.
Our two new baby bucks were born. Jingle and Jangle
The largest one has a black head with white lines and a white body. As soon as we seen his first foot we knew he was huge. The second boy has a deep red head and white body. Both are well, both are typical bucks snorting, stamping feet and tongue out. Very, very cute.
Our home is all decorated it is very cozy and warm. Our baking is done. However I do think we will need to make some more cookies it seems Dalton and Sam are craving cookies and really, really need to eat them.
Today we are Celebrating Winter Solstice. We are going to skate, make chocolates, cut out snowflakes, hot dog roast, my sister and her family are going to visit.
We have been listening to Christmas music, watching Christmas movies plus a few "boy movies" Rocky, fighting, transformers...
Funny thing if you want to clean out a room put a Barbie Christmas movie on which I love.

Today was a nice day. We brought fire wood in, cut some rings out of logs to do a craft. Hockey for the boys. Then we had a nice dinner for my husband. Birthday Dinner. We had chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, spinach salad and two cakes. A Black Forest cake with our own cherries then a pudding cake my Mom made. Very good supper.

A busy last few days. I do not think it is ever going to slow down six trips to town in the last two days.
Hockey tonight, a late game for Sam. Then half way through the game the Zamboni stalls and wrecks the ice so the game was cancelled. Not very good for the poor Kelowna team that traveled on a bus.
It is a steady -10 or more for the last few nights. Great for our skating rink but hard on my wood.
Our house is nicely decorated. On top of our regular ornaments this year I have added greens, cedar, pine and some nice red berries. It is very festive looking.

A fun weekend. We went out Friday and found our Christmas tree it was a lovely drive. The weather was great and the roads were perfect.
The boys were outside this weekend on the skating rink. They had an awesome time together with their Dad.
We had two hockey games with our middle son and shopping trips.
We spent Saturday and Sunday decorating the house and wrapping presents. It looks quite cozy. I have been trying to sew some pillows and I have just not had a moment. I hope this week I will find a bit of time.

A whirl wind of a life, that's what we are living.
Busy, busy busy.
New baby, extreme weather that jumps around, Christmas shopping, and visiting. Yes, my oldest son and his girlfriend are home for a visit.
We are going to be having a new little goat in the near future. One of our Boer does is bred, she would be the one who was chosen to keep the separated buck company and this is how he repays me! Please pray the weather stays mild.
Our decorations are going up! it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!
The bows are on the gate and it looks so pretty. I hope to go get pictures later today.

Is anyone else in a snow storm. I am! Ahh I am so not cut out for this winter driving...
It has snowed on and off all day. I guess it had to come sooner than later but ahh!!!
I did start the ice rink today but now you would never know it, I can 't see it at all.
Life here has a great way of being stressful. You can be sailing along and then bam life knocks you back. I kind of feel like climbing in a hole or covering myself over with a blanket and then crawl out when it is calm.
I have been working on a Christmas stocking for my oldest son's girlfriend it is coming along quite nice. I will post a picture soon.
Our female Alpacas are so enjoying their new spot, they are absolutely loving roaming around the acreage. I have never seen them so happy, my Dad thinks it is because they can look down on the property. He says they feel like they are in Peru.

I had a very nice visit with my niece and her two kids, she is down for a bit visiting. Yesterday we "My Mom, My Niece, My Daughter and My Self" went to Kamloops as my daughter had a Doctor appointment. It is so annoying that we can not have babies in our town. Less than two weeks to go!!!
Then I have been running around with hockey. Last night was picture night and we lucked out the weather stayed nice.
We have been battling it out with our bull...but...I think we are winning. I will let you know when day breaks...

Since the dealership is taking it's sweet, bloody time with my truck...We could not do hockey last night, no real hardship for me. However my boys do really love the darn sport.
Anyways, yesterday afternoon to early evening we actually had time to do some work, time to do some farming.
We had many, many bags of wonderful wool, amazing fibre. The fibre was so amazing, our dogs found it and loved it too. Ruined, most of it!
We loaded, and loaded some more a huge tractor load. Then we used a giant bulk bag to clean and fill full. We raked and cleaned the barn. We lost the goat, that snuck out on Hyacinth, only to find the goat in the chicken house eating their grain.
During this whole cleaning frenzy we did not see one mouse. A month ago they would run in front of me, pass right next to my feet, climb up walls. You could actually here them scurry at night. It was horrible.
Well, we have been raiding war on them and without sounding to cocky, I think...I think we might be winning.

The picture was taken last Saturday of the Sun.
CHILLY, COLD , COYOTES...WINTER IS MOVING IN!
We are freezing every night, the wind is cool, yet we are still getting breaks of beautiful sunshine.
I worry I will wake up to that white stuff.
SNOW.
As much as I think snow is beautiful, it is the driving.
I worry sick about my husband on the highway twenty four - seven.
I worry about my daughters driving.
I worry about my daughter having to have a baby and they do not deliver babies in this town.
I worry about my son in Tumbler Ridge working in a mine.
I worry about my son's girlfriend in Tumbler Ridge working in a mine.
And, why because of snow and winter driving.
As soon as the first cold spell hits us, I am out making the rink. Last year was awesome we had the ice rink from November until the end of February.
I hope you all have pleasant dreams and I hope you do not wake up to the white stuff.

Each night we seem to be getting a bit chillier. The days seem to be quite nice though. Yesterday the boys moved the sheep this should be their last move now for winter.
This move worries me. This is the side of the property where I heard horrible, sneaky coyotes trying to lure our dogs out then gun shots...
I don't sleep as well when the sheep are not locked up in the front pen.
I will move the Ram out near the end of February.
I also have to decide on the goats.
This particular herd of goats are very, very bad and really they should be sold...
They can not behave for two minutes.

Good Morning
Our dogs are barking pretty good this early morning and it is not even breaking day. I imagine it is the bears heading to the river looking for breakfast. Or, those sneaky coyotes. Both are fine as long as the keep on going straight past our property and don't eye up my sheep.
We seem to be pretty busy here. My husband is out working. I have full hockey duty. My boys will be pawned off for the weekend for their tournaments.
I need to finish up some projects. I have a Christmas fair I have committed to and I just have not had time to deal with things. I guess I will have to pull some long late nights. Ahh I hate those. I get so tired.
Everything on the farm seems to be okay, coasting along. The Ram is in full force with his girls. The billy goat is his usual BAD self. He is running with the girls, climbing trees, having full fledged fights with the bull and stinks to High Heavens...
The rabbits are good digging, digging, digging...everyday I have to fill those holes.

We froze the last few nights.
The mice are still hanging around even though we are raiding war on them. I am not sure who is winning yet. I think the mice might be but we are sure making their life miserable.

Today is our turkey day. I am so not good at stuffing those things. They soooo make my stomach turn. And, not one helper everyone cleared the kitchen... Oh well it is done.
I know I am not a very good farmer. I can raise the animal and I can sell them just don't make me kill them. I do not have a problem with farming for your food but I can not do the deed.
It will be nice to sit around the table tonight with my family knowing they are fed and looked after.

Thanks Giving Sunday.
I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. We have a full hockey weekend. I have to admit I have lucked out and have not had to go too much. Today I stayed home and I accomplished so much just general cleaning.
I baked Lavender brownies.
I worked on my book and other project.
I just moved my little canary he is sick. I am not sure if he will make it.
He looks so fragile it is really quite sad.
He is a really friendly little guy. So cross your finger and send some good vibes to him.

We moved the sheep this weekend and I will put the Ram out in the next few days. The goats are out running with the buck. I wish they would just go quietly and eat the new young razor grass that is growing so nicely from the rain. No they are bellering on top of their lungs wanting hay... Ungrateful lot!

What amazing, wonderful things will you be doing this weekend.
Visiting family, road trips, enjoying quiet time at home or harvesting the last of your gardens.

Please do not ask where I will be... just one guess.... it is bloody cold...
I will not snivel our weekend away but again I am stuck inside an arena.
I will fit in time to make good memories with my family. I will add a few I wish I was doing this to it. But all in all it is good
My Mom comes home from Maui today my Dad is on route to pick her up right now.
Doing chores at day break was amazing this morning. The air was crisp as it froze again last night and the sky was most beautiful. Such incredible colours this time of year. The fog was gently laying in the valley and on the mountain tops making it look so magical.
I am so thankful for this incredible beauty.

We have been having a bit of rain. It is funny how the goats hate getting wet.
Today we put the girls in with the buck. All the girls are in except two older girls and the three kids. One of our older does may be bred so I kept her out. The other is really thin so she is getting special treatment.
Within the next week I will turn the ram out with the ewes. I would like the goats to be bred first so they kid out before the sheep. That way if we need milk we will have it.

A wonderful good Sunday morning to you!
An early morning hockey game this am. Then Sam has to sort those damn pop bottles again, I believe he may have nightmares about them.
For us we really must work on our fire wood. We should have done it. We have already had a few fires.
We burn lots and I mean lots of wood. Wood heat is our only source of heat so we really have to be on the ball.
Ahh I can picture us in three feet of snow out dealing with wood... we must get it done...soon

I wish you could see our calender every day but one in the Month of October and every day but one in November is booked with hockey sometimes double or triple on a particular day.
I personally don't get it?
Why?
Why so much.
It is like people hate being home.
Very sad how you watch people running, checking watches one thing to the next.
I wonder what the quality of their home life is.
I know ours sucks every winter.
I wonder when it is all over will I be sad I let it over run our lives or will I think what an accomplishment?

Then I wonder do our kids have time to play not have to do homework, not have to do their sport, just PLAY!
Then their is the financial drain...over eight hundred dollars extra in the last week.
NO use complaining.
No, no complaining as I am knee deep wading, keeping my head above the water so I do not drown.
We always figure it out.
We may slide in with our hair flying back but it always has a way of working.

Doing tonight's duty of concession.
My Dad put away the irrigation system today, plowed up the garden. So the season is done.
I still have my hoses out in case of a warm spell then I will need to water the new lavender plants.
The sheep are loving the end of the garden. They have been eating beets, carrot tops, corn husks which they are not too sure of.
I was in the gardens this morning and I saw some of the sunflowers are ready, very excited for that. I also have some other plants ready for seeds.
This evening I found a new trick. I am able to text my sister in Maui. Ahh I am so excited about that.
Well I am off to sell some very expensive hot chocolate. Yup people are going to get soaked!

Birthday dinner.
We had an early dinner for Tanisha and Jordan. It was loud, musical, tons of food, laughter, wrestling, cake, loud, loud, loud...
My son left to go back to work today. I hate that he lives so far away.
Today oh my goodness the rain found us. We really needed it. It will be good because tomorrow I can see where the water needs to run through the new garden.
I need to find a routine as hockey is every single night of the week now. Ahh don't get me started. I hate it.
I am off to finish up the day. I need to find some inspiration to be creative.

Cold morning today only two degrees.
I guess that is a good temperature for moving hay.
We are half way done. Today we will load another two hundred and fifty five on the truck then we have to wait for it to come home...then unload. We can not drive the truck as it requires a class one license so we have to wait for my husband to bring the truck home.
Yesterday it was fun to watch my three strong boys unload hay then Miss Hyacinth came to help us. It really was fun.

While we were unloading the hay the goats kept one eye on us, it was so funny. I saw our old brown goat in one of their sheds peaking out the door to keep a watch. I sure wish I had a camera then.
Goats are quite comical. When the goats are not being bad like getting out, heads stuck in the fence, being mean to another and wasting their hay they are really a lot of fun.

I have been thinking I will still cut down on sheep either late winter or after lambing. I have to be able to feed them and have enough money for the hay without it being stressful. I would like to get away with only two hundred bales. I will watch how we do this winter. Our hay shed holds around six hundred and thirty plus we have two smaller barns. One of our barns is still full.

The sheep are not bad and neither is the bull for wasting.
But the goats... horrible wasters...people think because they are goats they will eat anything Nope not true only the finest hay for them.

Hay moving day today. I am wishing a good fairy will show up and take my place. I don't mind a pick up load but between four hundred and six hundred bales and I have to lift each bale at least four times...that is just not fun.
However it is a wonderful feeling at the end of filling the hay shed. A job well done.
It is raining outside right now. I hope it is only a short light rain. We do need it as we are quite dry around here.
Yesterday we moved the sheep to another field. We had one girl so lost she was bellering all over the place for a few hours but she has since settled down.
All in all the animals are quite content.
We have a young bull who thinks it is a goat he is a nuisance and we always have to watch our back.
Well I must go get the kids organized for school, chores, a quick visit with my Dad and a wake up call to my son.

Harvest time.
Beautiful warm early fall however I hear a rumour it is going to change.
I am so not ready for cold weather.

Today I have been picking rocks no sorry not rocks boulders... I think they are growing.
My Dad and I are preparing the ground for our new Lavender plants.
I have one hundred and seven to put in the ground.
I gave my Dad three and I am pretty sure they will bigger and better than mine.

Little secret I will keep giving him some plants and we will have Lavender everywhere!!

The animals are quiet settling in for the fall. They are in a quiet routine.

The Ram and Billy goat are separated from the girls. The girls are all resting from nursing their little ones.
I imagine I will let the boys out in October.

A nice morning here today besides the nasty headache I woke up with. I am sure it is coming from my neck. Sigh it may be a long day
I have the chores done, water going, the little dogs have played.

I should clean up the back deck today and I am pretty sure I just did it.
Can anyone tell me why!!
WHY!!! are boys so bloody messy?

I would like to decorate if I can muster up enough energy.

While I was out watering at the barn...
We have a climbing plant that is making it's way over the chicken house. Actually it is a peacock house at the moment. It is a large Virginia creeper with a ball of roots that stick out of the ground a good half foot.
I thought I should give it a good soak.
Ahh not a good idea over twenty mice more to the twenty five count were living under it.
Horrible absolutely horrible
They were climbing the vine and scurrying into the rabbit pen. So I am thinking I might go make their day miserable and put a sprinkler on there.
Now I am wondering why do we have four idol cats?
