Last night I went to my middles son's band concert it was quite good it is amazing how just under 2 months they can play songs. The middle school has an amazing turn out of parents there must be 300 or so guests. I think the band teacher mentioned around 177 ( not quite sure now) students are in the grade 7 and 8 band. My son was really sweet I could actually see him through the crowd and he kept smiling at me, the whole evening I was waiting on him to bail but he did just fine.
Today parent teacher interviews, packing for my boys tournament and I finally received my wire now to build cages. There has not been too much knitting going on my last few times in the arena I have been busy or had to sit through a meeting because the boys on the team can't get along and at another meeting I had to sit politely and listen to the teacher and at the concert I thought it would be rude. The one meeting is about my oldest son going to Quebec on a French class exchange so I thought I had better write down a few notes so I would remember to tell my husband all about it and my son goes mom don't write you'll embarrass me. So at the hockey meeting I did not knit so I would not embarrass him and he goes later "Oh it would make no difference to me (if I knit) I don't care no big deal " Sometimes I just can't win. Well off to start the day have a Good One

I am finished my vest YEAH it is not too hard to make but it is the next step to making something one can wear. It is very exciting to finish a project it is a great feeling. However I wonder if I wear it out to the barn if my Ram will notice...
The joys of being a hockey family we have been running crazy all weekend I am just waiting on kids to get ready then off we go again. Yesterday we were up by 5am and not home again with hockey all finished until after 10 pm. This weeks we had 21 ice times and 12 of those games most of them 1 1/2 long with an hour before to be there.
So I am onto a good start with my new Poncho it is hard to come up with colours. I love colour it is so fun to match it up but it does consume a lot of time. I am hoping my wire arrives this week for my cages so I can get those built up before it gets too cold. Anyways must run the ice is calling us. Have a Wonderful day

Winter Scene
This is a picture of our first frosty snow fall I am trying a new way to publish photos, if this works it way easier.
Crazy weather
First we get wind howling wind, then we get up to -13, then we get snow, then we get more snow and then we get rain... All within the week and I will tell you all that adds up to one thing MUD. Mud that is tramped through my house mud that makes my sheep and Angora goats look horrible.
I am a very scared winter driver I had my son's shop class putting on my winter tires just in time for when I picked up the van and it was snowing pretty good. All the way home I got a throbbing headache just from stress it is horrible to be a scared driver it really puts a damper on things.
I am working on two projects one is a poncho made out of Angora it may be a project in progress as I am sure I will have to stop and spin in between. Another one is a poncho to make for my niece for her to give somebody for Christmas. So I must not be slow and get straight to that one.
Last night I got out of hockey duty I sent my oldest son with the neighbors I had to stay home and clean my kids room with me gone every night, every weekend and working outside or in town during the day one can get behind real fast. However I won their rooms are clean, cupboard's cleaned out toys put away. I really like my house clean there is nothing nicer than waking up and walking through a clean house. Well off to find coffee with my mom and dad.

Good Morning
Another weekend gone by. Yesterday on our last ice time my oldest daughter plays for Midget house and they were playing a team from out of town there was a bench brawl. I have heard of them but never seen one and all I was hoping my daughter would stay on the bench and not get in the middle of all those boys fighting. We have 3 -5 girls on our team and none of them seem to aggressive. It was crazy all the kids were fighting but I am not sure what about. So now I am not sure what is going to happen the coach sounded like he quit last night it seems so unfair always a few people have to wreck it for the other's.
We have had our first snow fall yesterday the wind is very cold and it froze to just about -10 last night. It caught me off guard the cold so I hope all my bunnies are okay. I know the goats and sheep will be warm but it never fails we always get a hard rain before a cold spell.
I have finished knitting the two pieces for my vest now I must figure out how to put it together. I am little worried my pieces do not match. Only time will tell. I also started knitting some beautiful white Angora I had spun it thick and thin and added a touch of sparkle. It is very pretty so I hope the finished product is just as nice.
Anyways have a Great day off to wake up children.

Good Morning It is Friday Yeah!
Today is a Soccer tournament for my ten year old daughter so lets hope the weather holds up in previous years we have played soccer in blowing cold wind, snow and rain. Last night was the high school dance and concession duty at the arena it was the first time I didn't mind concession duty only myself and one other parent in the arena last night. Do you ever wonder were do all the other parents go? The arena was better than sitting in the van until 10pm I only had to sit for 1 1/2 hours I parked under a street light knitted and listened to my ipod not too bad. This dance is better than the Christmas dance that waiting is just too cold. In the arena last night I was trying my luck at spindle spinning I find the spinning wheel way easier and spindle spinning the curses just fly out of your mouth. I have not enough wool of my Shetland and silk for the vest I am trying to make I have just a small amount left to spin so I hope to make it go far. Anyways only have of my children are up. I am off to go find the rest. Have a wonderful day.

Yeah I got out of hockey duty tonight my husband does not have to leave at 2am so he went tonight. However it is the calm before the storm the next two nights are hectic with concession duty. Today I had a nice lunch with my neighbors it is so easy to by past taking the time to visit but when one does take the time it is quite nice. I am to go to spinning tomorrow but I am just not in the mood I have to be in town from 2:30pm until 10pm and I find it is just getting too much with the running around. Today was a beautiful fall day a little wet this morning but quite nice by 3pm and I enjoyed going out watering the rabbits and checking all the animals out. Well I must run I hope to go to bed early but I always get a second wind and I end up staying up way too late.

Our Shetland Ram has beautiful fleece but he is very unpredictable at 6 months he was already bashing fences we are not too sure how long he will stick around. It is not worth having the worry with him, the kids can't go in the pen when he is out and we are always looking over our shoulder. When we had the sheep and goats out in the yard he rammed the dog and rammed our blow up ghost.
Building Cages is not an easy task. Without the right tools you end up with blood blisters, cut fingers and a lot of cursing. However I won I have put together four and I am waiting on the rest of the wire to finish off the job. It is such a nice feeling when a big job is done. I had a little trouble putting rabbits in the shiny new cages but it is done. I came in and made a business card label for each bunny with their name, age tattoo and mamma's name. I won't be working with the Rabbits today I have to bake, have supper ready early(so my daughter can feed everyone) while I go off to hockey tonight. If I do work with the bunnies everyone eats wool!
Tomorrow I am having three of my neighbors over for lunch so I just finished baking a cake.
On the weekend my oldest son broke his $130.00 hockey stick I felt so sorry for him after his last game he can hardly walk, sore swollen knees, two sore wrists and he tells me he is still having fun...My middle son told me in his last game he hit the glass or boards (he is not sure which) so hard first everything blurred then he saw double of everything. I am sure that is not good however nobody listens to me when I think they should take up a milder sport. My two daughters won both of there games the youngest got the first goal on her team.
I am half way finished my vest but I had to put knitting on hold while my left wrist healed up it hurt so bad I had to wear a braces I do that now and again if I do too much hay yard work etc.
I think my next project is either going to be a Mohair blanket or a new poncho in dark colours. Only time will tell, I should also get caught up my scrap-booking and I have to think Christmas. I am ahead in buying some of the kids presents but I must get more organized on it soon. Have a wonderful day

Dogs Dogs Dogs
Our lives are revolving around our 4 legged friends. The other day my parents took their Saint Bernard Dog to the vet for a sore leg and he never came home he had advanced bone cancer that had already move on to his lungs. It was really sad we had no idea and it caught us off guard. Then my Yorkshire Terriers eye is healing but really looks ugly and it is quite awful. I don't think he will see out of it again. Then we have two new puppies which I am pretty sure my husband has not notices yet but I hear him driving in with the logging truck right now so I am sure he will notice because it is his first time coming home in the daylight hours. Which I will post this later.... Back soon
Well he may of noticed but no comment. We are on our 5th trip to town and two of those go out of town to the next towns and we for sure a have two more maybe 3 more trips. Do you know how much gas that is? Well I must run to the arena talk to you all soon.

All Rabbits are caught up and they are sporting nice new hair cuts. I am waiting on some new wire so I can redo some of my cages it will be nice to get them all organized before the snow hits. Some of my Angora Rabbits are so beautiful you just have to stop grooming them and give them a hug they are so fluffy and kissable. I was reading my New Holland magazine at the arena tonight and there was an article about a man who buys Holstein calves and nurses them back to health and then re- sells them. Anyway it makes me want to go buy a new born calf from the auction we used to do that when we were kids and they are so lovable with their big brown trusting eyes. A new calf is honestly the best it is a good thing I do not live near the auction or I would probably have one by the end of the week. Another thing I would love to do is raise a bunch of bottle goat (kids) one time my mom brought me home 10 -12 babies it was so much fun a lot of work but fun. Anyways enough dreaming. I started spinning some beautiful Alpaca and silk today it is so nice to spin. I tried posting some photos yesterday but they would not load so I will try again tomorrow.

A Nice Weekend
I had a nice weekend at the Cache creek Retreat Desert Messa. My neighbor and I left at 10:35 am and arrived in Cache Creek in time to stop at a cute gift store and I bought my family a gift pack of a variety of fudge. Then we met another Lady and had lunch then of to the Retreat. I helped set up chairs, helped carry supply's in. Then I set up my spinning wheel and spun all weekend. I did accomplish lots and I visited some very nice ladies, ate lots and nobody should eat as much as we did it is a good thing it is only once a year:)I was very tempted to buy an Antique Spinning Wheel it was very nice NO I do not need it but she was very sweet. I should go order her...
My family faired well did a lot of hockey bought three pairs of new skates a few new hockey sticks.
Today I sheared a bunny and I hope to do one again tomorrow and then one the next day and I should be caught up. I have ordered some wire for new cages so when that gets here I will be kept busy for awhile. Well I must go I am off to a soccer game, hockey game, concession duty, and two hockey practices so talk to you all soon.

Tomorrow I am off for my Spinning Retreat I am looking forward to it. I had a great time last year even though I only knew a few people. I am traveling over with my neighbor, she and her friend are the two who put on the retreat. I am taking my Aplaca Fibre to the lady who owns Crofton mills so it is really exciting. I am a little worried on leaving my husband with all the hockey he has 2 games out of town both over 3-4 hours traveling plus two games in town and three practices. I will put on my cell phone, turn it to vibrate so I don't disrupt the hum of Spinning wheels. That way I will be a phone call away for moral support :) Last year my youngest son was a little lost with the shuffle so I hope they will all be okay this time.
I had to take in 4 logging truck tires and a big tank of something (to do with welding or cutting) into town for my husband which they were all very dirty. He goes "I always run all over to Kamloops for you" and Yeah how dirty does he get in Kamloops or how heavy are they. He has no sense of humor over it :)
I managed to do a lot of knitting at the arena we had all four of the ice times in town last night but I find because I am so cold I must tense up because my fingers and shoulders really hurt. Heat is the only thing that makes them feel better.

A long weekend coming to an end. It was a busy time but we managed to fit in a Turkey dinner we had it at 7 pm Sunday night. My mom cooked the turkey and brought it over to our house it was really nice. However my younger kids were so wired they were bouncing of the roof. Do you know the Christmas excitement hyper... well they were worse than that. It is truly amazing I do not have gray hair.
The hockey was good but very rough, today my oldest boy played in the finals for first place they came second. He was in about 20 seconds of his first shift in the first period and he hit head on with a very large boy and he hurt his chest. He could not breath until he reached they bench and was spitting up blood. After awhile of coaxing he agreed to go the hospital where they checked him out and took an xray and it turned out clear. Now he hurts really bad, has trouble breathing and when he move a certain way it really bothers him and has a huge headache. He is 6 feet tall but weighs under 150 lbs. I can handle lot of things except when my kids get hurt but I handled it quite well you don't count my hands were shaking so bad that when I was knitting I made a huge mess.
So tonight we are into our 4th on-ice time I will head in about 8:45 to pick up my daughter.
I have been doing some Wonderful dyeing with Mohair. Mohair takes the colour so well it is great to work with. I am heading to my retreat next weekend and I am very excited so I should prepare by not eating much this week so I can sit around all weekend spinning ,knitting and eating. Have a wonderful evening.

Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving (In Canada) Everyone! The start of a long weekend I truly love holidays the only thing is life does not slow down enough to enjoy the holidays at home. We will spend ours with 15 ice times one game 2 1/2 hours away, two time keeping plus two concession duties (not while my child is on the ice)and then two ice times to work the gate for the tournament. If one sat down and did the math you notice that is just about the darn weekend. However the kids are very excited and just think how much knitting I will get done.
Last night in a terrible wind we wet up this lovely blow air thing that is a ghost for Halloween it is white and it looks like he claps his hands. He looks pretty friendly, I just hope it does not scare my niece and nephew when they come to visit. I think my kids should be passed being scared.
You will notice on my last blog post the comment was from my sister so now I hope the rest of my family will leave me a comment and Heide you will notice she said favorite so now you will just have to up one on her :)well this is just a quick hello I must hop in the shower and meet my son and husband at the area he is on the ice at 7am. Busy times
The Angora goats are sheared and of course the weather is changing. I am pulling plants out of the garden. It is so hard to do they are all so beautiful but I know any day now the weather will change for good. It is so hard to believe it is October so close to Christmas. The next few weeks are busy so I imagine October will also fly by. We have cross country runs, hockey tournaments, School pot luck suppers, Thanksgiving, retreat, my mom's birthday and my mom and dad's anniversary. Plus a whole lot more. For my mom's birthday I will try to think of something cool I do have a good idea, of course I can not write it here because she will read it and then it will be NO surprise!
I just about pulled the plug on my blog but I enjoy writing it, and in away it is the only type of journal I have kept for some time. However It is one thing to get it written but I very seldom reread it and one just hopes it actually publishes. Then I find out there is a lot of typos and grammar errors. However if you all excuse the fact I don't always reread it or that I usually have 7 people trying to tell me a story and it is impossible to concentrate.
I am knitting a vest so we will see how it turns out. Just don't hold your breath for the finished product it may take me awhile. I have a had many people ask about my knitting at the arena and they seem quite interested in spinning so maybe they will get the spinning bug! Well I am quite tired tonight take care

Looking back over my Blog I am sure I posted a entry since the last one but I can not see it so I am thinking it is in Cyber Space floating. We have been incredibly busy here I have built two gates put in 6x6 x8 square fence posts so each gate hangs and joins in the middle at our bottom entrance I have painted them white so it looks real nice. We were hanging them in the dark last night with the light from the tractor ( there is just not enough day light these days)and of course it did not go smooth. So my husband and son were scheming how to make it open wide enough so the low bed and logging truck loaded can go through. I am not saying too much because we still had a lot to do and it was getting late and I just wanted it done. However there is always a reason for what I do it may not seem like it but always I have a good reason. The gate was built with small spaces between wood to keep out the neighbors dogs out and to keep my dogs in, to keep out the ranch below cows, the other neighbors Llama and the Reserve horses out and to keep my donkey in. Yet now my gate is hanging up side down bigger space now on the bottom and it is just plain back to front and yet I am still trying to keep the peace so I said "Oh it is okay I will just hang a wreath on it and it will be fine" My son starts to laugh and they flipped the gates moved them about and now they are all fine.
Did you ever notice that the simple things always seem to take the long way around yesterday we had 4 ice times a whole day of a refing Clinic and on the last ice time which was 2 hours long the coach then decides to add on dry land training it is Sunday night and no hope for a Sunday family dinner (on top of it we ended up in the concessions stand again) My poor daughter had to cook supper and after many, many phone calls supper was turned up turned down and then just turned off. I also ended up to the early morning practice with my youngest son to find his skates not there my other daughter had them and she was at a friends house...Honestly I could go on and on about our crazy weekend but it is just to long to type.
During our hectic weekend our little Yorkshire Terrier end up shook by a bigger dog which then caught his eye and made his eye ball pop out so it was a dash to the vet on a Sat. Which they close at noon so over time, surgery, medicine and thank God the vet did not have time to get the bill ready. I'm okay with ignorance, what I don't know will keep me calm :)
With all the busy things knitting has been put on the back burner but I did finish the fingerless gloves I was working on and I did spin up two bobbins of thick and thin Angora now I just need to ply them together and I am spinning some lovely Mohair that I dyed at our dyeing workshop.
On Wed. My spinning group is coming here for the day so that should be fun. I hope to post photo's but lately I can not get any pictures to post.
Did you ever notice that the simple things always seem to take the long way around yesterday we had 4 ice times a whole day of a refing Clinic and on the last ice time which was 2 hours long the coach then decides to add on dry land training it is Sunday night and no hope for a Sunday family dinner (on top of it we ended up in the concessions stand again) My poor daughter had to cook supper and after many, many phone calls supper was turned up turned down and then just turned off. I also ended up to the early morning practice with my youngest son to find his skates not there my other daughter had them and she was at a friends house...Honestly I could go on and on about our crazy weekend but it is just to long to type.
During our hectic weekend our little Yorkshire Terrier end up shook by a bigger dog which then caught his eye and made his eye ball pop out so it was a dash to the vet on a Sat. This is my one daughter who has not caught the flue yet she is trying to stay healthy.
Good Morning I am a little sick of tomatoes I put up another 40lbs yesterday this time I blended them and then put them into freezer Zip lock bags which would be no big deal until I was rushing because it was time to go to the School bus so I loaded all the bags into a large bowl and then promptly dropped one going down the back stairs and it exploded all over the boot room. The exploding was enough to make me mad but I just recently re-did the whole room in a lovely white with very white accessories (not very practical for 8 eight people who live on a farm). It is amazing you all did not hear me:)
I am dealing with sick children still this flue is going through the whole bunch of them I get one half way through it then another one starts. I can handle the sick kids it is waiting for it to hit when and where will I be near them or will they be at school and my one son could not hit a toilet or sink if he was paid, so how do I politely keep him out of the living room or out of his newly renovated room which he is on the top loft bed.
I have been working on some more fingerless gloves for my youngest daughter but she picked the wool I only have one ball of this fluffy purple/pink wool so I hope to be able to make them out of it. If I don't I guess it calls for a shopping trip to Kamloops which is about 1 hour and 20 minutes to an hour and a half away. It is very hard to find much in our town.
Anyways I am way behind schedule must go get the rest of the sleepy heads that are not up yet.

I had a Great time at our dye work shop even though it rained, thundered and lighting throughout the day. We were quite cold but what a lot of fun. I came up with some crazy colours and my Mohair dyed beautiful it takes the colour real well.
Tonight my three youngest children and I stayed home after I sweet talked my husband into going to hockey and to take the kids into town to the school dance. We went outside in the rain moved chickens to a different house, cleaned the chicken house and then raked out the barn and sorted our first bag of Alpaca to get it ready to head to the mill.
Today I washed, cubed 30 lbs of tomatoes and put them in the freezer, what a long job but it is done. Tomorrow I must do the peaches but I also must head into the bank and Oh my gosh I hate going to the bank I will do anything to get out of it.
The other night I had something get in top my very expensive Alpaca grain I had it in a large tupperware garbage container plus another container and who ever it was totally squashed my garbage can in half actually bent it right into two and then completely flipped the other bin over tipped all grain then threw it over and of course it rained all night so the grain is wrecked and did I mention you cannot buy that grain in our town. I am pretty sure it was a bear which the novelty of them is really wearing off.
Well I must go so have a Wonderful night and take care

Starting already
It is the second week of school and I already have sick children my youngest daughter threw up all night and then today she had very bad stomach ache, no energy and a head ache. It was another day that was not in the plans but other than my poor girl being sick it was a good day. I did a lot of indoor stuff vacuumed, cleaned desk, filled more water into outside pond, Prepare my wool for tomorrow.
Tomorrow our guild is getting together for a dye workshop so I have my wool soaking in water and vinegar. I am looking forward to it I hope to take some photos that I can post. The only reason why I would not be able to go if any of my kids are sick but my mom said they could stay with her but I will just wait and see how things look in the morning. I will leave home around 8:15 am and not return home until 7 pm that is if my husband can do one of the meetings that I have to do. I pick up my middle son from school after the dye workshop do some banking and then school meeting at 4pm hockey at 5pm the I go home after hockey and my husband brings in my daughter for her meeting. September 11
Five years ago everyone of has a story of how we heard, what we were doing, how we felt,and today we relive every emotion and we get that same sick feeling of not being able to make it go away. My heart goes out to everyone I truly believe no one in this whole world was left untouched. I wish you all peace and happiness.
Today was a crazy day at 9:20am my mom phoned me that my miniature pony who is not up to my knees was up on our top property laying on her back with her feet in the air. My dad found her when he was looking for our crazy ungrateful cow. I went out and I started to walk her but before that I had to find a halter, so on went a goat rope halter (which is useless) and I continued to walk her till 2pm. As soon as we would stop she would lay down and roll and again she would look just like she was dead. I had to cancel my appointment to meet someone, phone my husband to come home early so he could go to hockey for me and the walking would be easy for 41/2 hours if I did not have to drag her and pull the whole way now all I have is a sore back and sore knees but a live horse. At 2pm as soon as my husband drove in the driveway with the logging truck I put her in the shade and she smelt the water dipped her lips in it and tried to eat grass. I honestly thought she would not make it but she is standing however she is very tired looking.
I did go to hockey and when I was gone a huge pine tree that had been killed by bugs fell down and just missed our chicken house NO WIND! Which then scared Donkey who tried to run through the wire fence and made the dogs go crazy. Then later on out of the blue, down comes the crazy cow bellering on top of her lungs and still has the fire in her eyes of fear so we move goats around open gates and now she is in the corral. Our property if fenced for goats and sheep not crazy red headed cows. So we will tip toe around until she settles. Then my oldest son takes the old truck that we are going to restore for a drive down to the river to look at a large spawning Salmon and breaks down so he is late for hockey or late for the time the coach would like them there, not a good thing on the night of the first cuts. Now I am waiting for my oldest son to come home to see if he made the first cuts of the team. All of that today so no knitting, no spinning except the spinning I did before I woke the kids at 6am. I had great plans but I will do them tomorrow. Have a wonderful day, be thankful for your families and count your blessings. Talk to you all soon.

We have accomplished a lot this weekend today we dewormed our goats and sheep however we ran out of Ivomac before we could finish so we only have 9 left to do. It went well actually it went real smooth nice when it goes quick. Then I groomed 5 young Angora's, one adult and sheared one adult. The above took me the whole day and I was so dirty after it was done. I also went looking for our MIA Heifer my mom and dad brought her home we unloaded her two seconds later she jumped the fence and broke the top rail and now is as wild as can be on our top property. Cows are very ungrateful!
My boys had hockey all weekend now Monday night is the first cut for Midget Rep hockey so we will see where we stand after that and I think Pee Wee Rep's first cut is Wednesday. Then Thursday all our hockey starts Heaven help us it will be a night mare around here. All six of our children will have ice time, some will get double till they make the teams and our last will end sometimes at 11pm.
On Wednesday we have to be at three places at once hockey, CMS School, and an Advid Mss school meeting. During the day on Wednesday I am going to a dye work shop with my spinning group so I am trying to prepare for that now.
On my spinning wheel I am plying my Shetland and silk it is so beautiful I hope it knits up as nicely as it has spun.

Back to routine
Well school has started, hockey has started, 7 lunches a night has started and all seems well. The kids seem to have adjusted okay they were all a little nervous the first day but they met up with friends, wore new clothes and are trying to accept some of their teachers think they are GOD.
My renovations are down it looks quite nice but my goodness what a lot of work to do with one job you mess up three rooms and I had three jobs on the go so you can imaging the mess. I really hate to paint I have decided it is a lot like labor once it has started you can't stop you just have to push ahead to get it finished but when it is finished there is such satisfaction.
We have gone down to the auction sold 5 goats, 4 roosters and at the same time sold our 14 laying hens and three banty hens to our neighbor.
My Angora rabbits are due for a hair cut so it is time to work on getting the fibre off. My two Giant Angora X's have beautiful fibre and I can't wait to shear them and spin it. With the three breeds of Angora that I have I find the Giant x German are easiest to work with, then French and then the English. The English is very, very fine and I find it hard to control but they are beautiful rabbits and very friendly. I find my English Angora Does are my best mom's.
I have to run now because I just thought I might not have turned off the barn water.

Hello
What is this no sleep thing I have going on I do believe it is becoming a habit. Last night 3 hours sleep we had a coyote right out front and it sounded like screaming and I had thought it got one of our dogs. So my husband I went out with flash lights and he drove the van around at 1am and he has to go to work at 2am. Then tonight or actually it is now early morning I think we have bear. My dogs have barked the whole night so of course I have been awake since 2am. I lay there worrying about the animals because I know I can't run a gun and my dad is away and I am not too sure when I go out what I would do if I come face to face with one. My neighbor a few years ago has lost sheep and an Alpaca to bears. I don't like to have to shoot them but sometimes they just become to aggressive. So I have cleaned up the house, I am printing pictures, caught up on my e-mails.
I am renovating I have taken down the walls and while I was in the process my heart was beating so fast because I knew I was too far gone to turn back and all I could picture was me wrecking something real bad. Then my husband came home and after he tried to ignore the fact I had torn the house apart he helped me. We are going to paint the walls which is a huge thing for us a little scary but I will keep you posted.
Well must run have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the last few days before school.

Good Morning
Good Morning
Isn't it funny how the days pass and you really don't notice until there is a big change. Like this morning I have been up since 4am it is now nearly 6am and it is still dark outside a few weeks ago it would have bright with the sun shining and last night during our walk there was such a strong smell of pine needles that were all covering the road. Fall is definitely in the air, there is something special about Fall the pine needle smells, every now and again the faint smell of smoke from wood chimneys as the temperature changes. Chores change from getting ready for winter, planning changes at the barn (that would be the reason for not sleeping again). There is a very good feeling to having a wood shed full of wood cut for winter, the barn full of hay, the grain bin full and the worry of water not so strong in one's mind.
I am winning in my house renovation we are putting our two youngest boys in a room together it does seem we are going back a few steps because all our children had their own room. However now we can take the wall down that made our dining room into the 7th bedroom and open up our house again and it give it a nicer feeling. I will add I am not sure I have actually mentioned all these details to my husband but I am sure he is cluing in :) I do hope to have it done one day when he just comes home from work at supper. I did talk about it in general and I have learned don't wait just do it like for instance the lovely new loft bed with the twin bed underneath it for the boys that my brother and law and son's put together while my husband was at work. All done when he got home and no work for him:)It is a good thing he loves me. Well on that note off to conquer the day. Have a productive day

Getting back to Normal
We are slowly getting back to normal from our two back to back weddings both turned out lovely they were fun and the brides looked great. Our last wedding was my friends we went to Three Valley Gap near Revelstoke, British Columbia an Old ghost town with a wonderful story to go with it. I will post a few pictures later. We also stopped at THE LAST SPIKE of the CN rail road and we visited the Enchanted Forest.
I have been slow at posting because my main computer has been in Kamloops since August 13 waiting for a new part it finally arrived the Saturday we went to pick it up and they put the part in while I waited an hour later it was done. So now no more excuses I need to work on my web sight, catch up on my bookkeeping Sigh... I hate bookkeeping it is like watching paint dry.
In the knitting department I am making a pair of fingerless gloves out of beautiful Alpaca blended with mauve silk. This blend is wonderful to work with it is fun to work with as it just glides through my fingers. I am still spinning my lovely Shetland and silk blend with the new Woolee Winder it takes longer to fill a Bobbin because it is so even you get way more wool on the bobbin it is amazing how good the Woolee winder makes your spinning look :)
I few posts back I had a wonderful surprise visitor a friend of my sisters it was so cool to think someone so far away was reading my story. "Hi Jane it is so nice to hear from you, I hope all is well and your children must be so grown up now."
This week we plan on deworming, lice powdering and feet and getting ready for a grain cycle to get the Ewes and Does ready for breeding season. I do hate having a job over my shoulders but it is best we get it done. My son and husband fixed the fence of our working pen yesterday that would be the one Johnny our Ram went through last breeding season to get to his girls.

Fun Times
We have had a busy time, my niece got married she was absolutely lovely she looked so pretty. It was a fun wedding the weather was great, everyone got along fine and they all seemed to be having a fun time. I have been visiting my brothers and sisters it all seems to be going by so quickly but I think it makes one appreciate the time together more.
Tomorrow I am going to our Spinning Guilds annual birthday party. I wasn't going to go because we have been so busy and we have to go Friday to another wedding but I know I will be disappointed if I do not go. So I am off in the morning with a vege plate my spinning wheel and a Present.
Tonight I finally spent some time working out at the rabbit pen I fixed a few cages and moved over our babies. I should have done it a lot sooner but I chickened out because my dad's dogs always get riled up when I move animals about and then they go rabbit hunting. So I watered down the electric fence and hope they stay put tonight. If I was to replace the rabbits the two dogs have gotten with ones bought from other breeders I would be well over the $2000.00 mark.
Tonight I received a lovely load of hay 144 bales of nice green hay that my dad bought. I just hope now we have enough to get through winter, total so far we have purchased 454 square bales and 13 round bales. If we did not have to feed hay during the summer months we would be so far ahead.
I am planning in the next two weeks to deworm, powder and feet, if I do it before September I will have the help before hockey starts. Once hockey starts that is it for any normal life we know until the end of next April.

Two more sleeps
Two more sleeps (as my niece would put it) to my niece's wedding. All the preparation she and her friends have done now is in the final count down. We are all very excited.
I have not written in my blog because my computer is in getting repaired and is waiting for a new CD Rom, plus it was extremely loud it is not quite 7 months old so I took it in for a check up.
The kids and I have been working around the house by cleaning rooms, painting, then all of them decided to turn their rooms around, so this is good getting ready for school....Sigh I do hate school. I love having my kids home I really hate to share them.
I finally got my Woolee Winder on only to find it cracked but I took too long to notice so I am pretty sure I can't send it back. I glued it and it seems to be holding. Oh my goodness you can spin and spin and spin you never have to stop. I have found it takes a few things to get used to, when it gets to either end of the bobbin I have trouble feeding it on and then it over spins so I am not sure how to fix that. I will just keep spinning away.
I am planning my pre winter jobs around the farm I would like to do some work to the barn build a gate or two and cover up some openings. It really helps to be ahead of the game for lambing and kidding. This year we will be adding in the Alpaca's hopeful due around April / May.
Well since sleep is not happening I am off to start a project. Take Care and Make Wonderful Memories.

I finally got my Woolee Winder on only to find it cracked but I took too long to notice so I am pretty sure I can't send it back. I glued it and it seems to be holding. Oh my goodness you can spin and spin and spin you never have to stop. I have found it takes a few things to get used to, when it gets to either end of the bobbin I have trouble feeding it on and then it over spins so I am not sure how to fix that. I will just keep spinning away.
I am planning my pre winter jobs around the farm I would like to do some work to the barn build a gate or two and cover up some openings. It really helps to be ahead of the game for lambing and kidding. This year we will be adding in the Alpaca's hopeful due around April / May.

Busy days
We are definitely too busy here. Today was haircuts in town at 9:30 am, my 4 year old niece visiting, my oldest son has a friend over to visit, my youngest daughter went to visit a friend, my youngest son is at a birthday party, drove to Kamloops to pickup my husband. On the trip to kamloops I saw the result of 4 accidents and some of the vans had nothing left of them or their air bags hanging out it was horrible then I saw two different ambulances, police and the jaws of life. I saw a man hit a lady in a field as we were driving by and said to my husband what should we do, so we went to the store to buy our bread and thought we would see if it was still going on when we came out but they were gone it was horrible not knowing what to do. I have never seen that before and how do you know what a 911 call is. However before all that as I was driving into town and had a young yearling bear run right out in front of me I slammed on my breaks and do you know how long it takes your vehicle to slow down. Oh my goodness my stomach muscles hurt from either slamming on the breaks or tension. All I could do was tell him to hurry I would have hit in head on. The poor little fellow he was lovely, very shiny and black and really quite quick. I think I heard he was the little guy with no mom. Then on the way home it was raining so hard we could hardly drive unreal, crazy and of course the rain missed our property again.
Amid all my stress I did pull out my very disappointing sock I am trying to knit, to bad you have to make two of them.
We did have a great visit with my Great niece she was very good not too home sick and I think she had fun with the girls.
I am waiting to hear from my mom she is in Vancouver picking up my Uncle from England so we are all on pins and needles until he lands.

This is what I have been doing
I have been building this patio I used 40 2 feet by 2 feet cement pads plus 24 smaller ones then I cemented in between, bought a new patio set and a lovely fireplace. I could hardly move for a couple of days but it is really nice and less water on the lawn now.
I am extremely excited my brother and his wife from Austin, my sister and her husband from Maui, my uncle and girlfriend from England plus my brother and sister and their families from here in BC are all coming home!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They will be here for my niece's wedding. Oh my goodness I can hardly contain my excitement.
Knitting has been on the back burner as I garden, I love to work outside. However I did learn a new trick with a two sided crochet hook I might take awhile to master it.

Summer is going by way to fast
The Summer is going by way to fast before you know it we will be heading back to school. We have two upcoming weddings, company coming from Texas, England and maybe Maui it will be nice to have all my brothers and sisters home for a while.
My mom was reading my blog and told me my grammar was off. I have a terrible time writing in this little box and I usually am writing later at night or I have someone telling me a story. I also do not always go back and read it over I am lucky to get written the first time.
I have been doing a lot of yard work and it seems to be coming along nicely. When I get a moment I will post photos.
Last night my two sons and I went up to our top part of our property and were rummaging around (we never took the dogs because the day was just about over) when I was getting ready to head back down the boys wanted to stay up a little longer so I was just about to drive off when I saw quite a large black bear right where we had been not even 50 feet away. He never payed any attention to us but my youngest son was scared and then we just headed down to the house. We had no idea he was even there. We had heard the Alpcas's warning call but we thought it might because we were up top but a lesson learned always look when the Alpaca's start up.

Broke and Tired
I am broke and tired tonight. I did two trips to town and one to Kamloops today. I took my children school shopping they all need clothes. The girls actually come to think of the boys too all Love to shop they have lovely outfits to show for it. I really enjoy buying them things but near the end I stress because of the money, my husband is very good about it poor bugger works so hard and we spent it all today :)
I like them to have nice in style clothes but with six we always have to buy what is on sale and not too grown up. However I think we did a very good job just some school supplies and new shoes.
I did not buy, not one ball of wool, needles or knitting gadget... Do knitting magazines fit under that category or a lovely new knitting bag (photo's to follow later).
Well I am off to bed I must be awake by 3 am to make sure my son gets up for work he is doing very well today he worked from 4 am to 8pm quite the rude awakening for him but it is only two days a week.

Progress
Nothing feels better than projects getting done. The fence is built the gate is built and ready to hang. The new arch is built and stained I just need to add the wire for the plants to cling to. I am very bad for starting new projects in my front yard I am already thinking of my next step and I will keep you posted. My dad tells me I must not decorate the whole property but I tell him Why not. However who is the silly person out there all day doing chores :)
My niece phoned me and she wants me to sing at her wedding I told her give me two weeks and if I can't do it then she has to find back up, I am just to busy to practice. Well I must go and start the day I have to run into town, so much to do and so little time.

Cool Weather
Our weather has cooled off and you need to have sweater on go figure. We had a nice weekend my mother in law, brother in law and aunt in law came over for a visit. We have been putting up a new fence around the door way of the barn to keep out my dad's dogs they like to help themselves to my rabbits. So I hope to finish that tomorrow and I would like to get it all done except maybe not the gate. I also have to finish the arch I am building by my front gate tomorrow the wind wrecked the light iron one I had. Yet before I can have fun finishing up projects I have to go pay my GST at the bank I hate banks and I like to avoid them at all costs. On the spinning end I am still spinning my beautiful blend of silk and Cashmere from Mud River Angoras you should go check it out they have a nice web sight. I am also working on my cream coloured cotton shawl. Well off to bed

How Embarrassing
Poor Goat we are not too sure where she found the tomato holder. It was just to funny not to take a photo. She could not walk in from the pasture so we had to catch her and she waited quietly for us to untangle her. In the past we have had goats with buckets stuck on there heads, boxes, and pieces of fence.
I have finished my scarf so now I am making a cotton shawl which should be quite nice.

Summer Fun
We spend most of our days swimming and the kids are having a blast. Last night we stayed up till 11:30pm watching an electrical storm it was amazing the whole sky would light up. I am knitting up the cotton scarf for a Christmas present so another hot day by the pool and I should finish it.

What do you do when the temperature reaches this!
It is so hot here! The animals are having a terrible time I have lost 5 Rabbits in spite of us cooling them down and ice bottles. I like the hot weather because we really do not get too much of it but it is just too hard on the animals.
The kids have been loving the pool eating, ice cream and playing in front of the fans. While the kids swim I have been knitting I am knitting with cotton and it keeps getting very wet so it should be pre shrunk. I will write more later they are calling for me to take them to the pool and we have one huge rule here no swimming until my husband or I or my mom and dad are at the pool with them.

The News in Our World
I having been reading the news and I am finding it is making me very sad everything is so extreme. The wars, young children sick, young teenagers dying while playing, people dying in my own town so much sickness. The heat is abnormal. I feel very thankful for where I live and I pray everyday we stay safe.
We have been having a hot spell and we have been getting up into the 40's it is very hard on the animals because on Wednesday it was only 5 above.
I am starting to make a few Christmas gifts and then I will put them aside until I need them.
We have been making jam from raspberries it is very good, I don't think I will get any put away for winter when my kids keep eating it as fast as I make it. Well I will post the photo's later this evening I must go cool the rabbits again. Take care and my thoughts are with you all.

My City Fix
I was off visiting a friend this weekend she lives about an hour away from me in a near by city. I was having my city fix we walked along the main street of the place and looked in some really fun stores and stayed up late beading and visiting.
I am having trouble jumping in and starting to dye my wool I guess I just do not know where to start. I am also wondering if I am to order some dye (chemical dye) would it be better to buy the primary clours so I can add and change amounts to get different colours then I would keep the expense down. When I was away this weekend I was analyzing the colour of things to see what looks good together there was a lot to inspire me. Maybe today I will get my stuff together and start this week. I also need arrange my beautiful room where my loom is. I gave a huge plant away to my friend to make more space so that is also on my list of things to do.

Change of Plans
Do you ever have where you make Great plans nothing extreme just everyday stuff and it constantly gets Changed, well that happens to me constantly. My youngest son was off to stay with my sister for nearly a week at the Homestead 2/1/2 - 3 hours away. He packed two suitcases plus another carry bag and was off, he couldn't make 24 hours. He does not cry unless he gets really hurt well I guess he cried both nights (lots) wanting to come home. His brother and sisters didn't go two were heading up yesterday with my mom and dad and my brother and his family were going today and he still needed to come home. So I phone my husband at work he leaves by 3am and told him we had to head up to get him so after our full day off we go and we got home at 11;30 PM fell into bed and a few hours later start a new day all over again. We were so tired coming home and the road back is awful narrow and winding.
On our way to the lake we saw a BEAUTIFUL FOX he was really, really pretty. I have never seen the colour he was before and his tail looked like he dipped it into silver ink. Also on our way home a huge female moose ran across in front of us she also was beautiful and quite graceful and she would have been even nicer if we didn't have to slam on the breaks to stop from hitting her. I realized how quickly in a split second ones life can change it could have been awful.
On a good note though I started a new shawl with cream coloured cotton pretty simple but I would like to weave beads along the bottom I am not to sure how it will work out but I will have fun watching it grow. Well of to have a productive day talk to you all soon

My new floor loom
How is this for short term memory I uploaded my photo first to my blog and then completely forgot what picture I put up! It took several minutes of hard thinking to remember which picture it was. I really enjoy working on the loom I just have a real issue on sitting around all the time. I would like to make several different projects but I am quite slow with my creative time. I am using some gorgeous wool on the loom that I spun up, it is real pretty.
I am waiting on the Woolee winder that I ordered from the States and I am quite excited, I had e-mailed the young man who makes them and he was very quick in replying. So I will let you know when I receive it.
I opened my wool that I received back yesterday and I could knit for 1000's and more with it all. I have beautiful wool blends with silk I am going to dye some the only thing stopping me is fear I know I just have to jump in it with two feet and go.

Sitting all day
Here is a photo of my beautiful Border Leicester skein dyed with Lovely orange Honey Suckles. It came out a lovely happy yellow.
How can one person sit all day at the computer. I have been working n my web page and I am starting to see double. It is so time consuming.
We are in the middle of our summer the kids are swimming, playing at the river, biking, going for walks, visiting their cousins and Aunts, Going to the lake 31/2 hours away from me( I hate that part)
My wool arrived so I am quite excited I have some beautiful Shetland Lamb mixed with a silk blend. It is a very pretty brown with raspberry pink throughout it. I am quite excited to give it a try and I hope to have some up on my Web page soon for sale. I also hope to get some dying in this summer try some new fun colours. Have a wonder time and take care.

Party Time
Today my oldest daughter is having a birthday party she is now 17, it is amazing how quickly time goes. So in honor of her party we went to town and bought a huge amount of food for these very hungry teens and pray for nice weather so they can stay by the pool, hot tub and not in my living room.
We are in the middle of bringing in Winter Hay so far I am at 16 round, 315 square when I get this all nicely paid for I will have to order more.
Today we take back our mother cat and four kittens that we have been fostering it has been a lot of fun. We may pick one kitten to keep it is hard for the kids to choose and I feel especially guilty over the mom she is lovely. However the mom doesn't like our other cats and I am scared if she goes outside the dogs won't know her and try to chase her.
Last night I tried my hand at weaving on my floor loom again and I am having a lot of trouble with the warp breaking and breaking over again on the spot that I fix. So I will keep at it but it is very frustrating.

O Canada
Happy Birthday
What a Wonderful Country we live, I am proud to be a Canadian. I truly think our Country is beautiful.
Today was a quiet day with just the usual chores, we swam, had bar-b-q, drove into town, took the kids to Dairy Queen and let them look around Wal Mart. We built an
arch so when we walk in the front yard we will walk under an arch way. It will look very nice when the Roses and Virginia Creeper begin to climb up it.
On the spinning wheel I am spinning blue face Border leicester dyed red for Canada Day. On the knitting needles I am trying my luck at a hat however it does look big and I am using white Border Leicester and the Red that I am spinning. On the other set of needles I am still plugging away at a sock. How do people knit fast I am not very quick at it. Have a wonderful holiday weekend and remember to make GREAT memories.
