Our Trip Home Was Crazy

Posted by Picasa

How could I not buy this. It was made just for ME!
Two nights no sleep we are having terrible thunder storms. It would not be so bad but we have so much pine beetle kill in our valley. It does make me worry. The kids were standing out on the deck it is covered and under the car port to watch the storm. I really do like to watch it but I admit it totally stresses me out. The poor dogs all were scared. My dad's dog is the worse he gets so scared. I really feel sorry for him. He actually cries. Even Lulu was getting scared and it makes her bark. She has quite a mean bark a big bark.
Now back to why can't I sleep. I am tired I was dead tired yesterday but I can't make myself get a full night sleep. Maybe we are just too busy.
Today I am off to Kelowna with my friend we are off to find the Lavender farm. So be prepared for many pictures. My friend loves taking pictures as much as I do and I plan to learn a bunch of new tricks.

Today started with some rain then it warmed up to being hot. We were on the verge of having the bush shut down. The plan was shut it down for week or until rain. Well it did rain and my poor husband was stuck in mud all day.
Tomorrow we have to head up to Prince George to bring Miss Hyacinth home. It will be a long day we want to go up and come straight home. I would stay home but I have not seen her for awhile so I should go meet her. It will be good to have her home. Did I mention she is bring a rodent home...last one the cat ate.
My son is coming home Sunday he should be home for a couple of days then he has to go back out. He is not sure what fire he will head out to.
I am going Sunday to visit with my friend. We are off to Kelowna to go to the Lavender farm. We are maybe going to spend the night then I will be home Monday afternoon. It is so busy.
I did a lot of cleaning outside while it was cooler. We moved two goats to the barn who need their back end cleaned up.
Then the boys caught our new baby alpaca and we had a little cuddle. He is so strong and his little nose is all white on the end. He looks like Rudolph just not red.
Today I had to drive into town to pick up my oldest daughter from her work. She was not feeling well and did not drive. Nothing worse than feeling sick in the summer.
Well I am off to get organized for morning. Have a great weekend.

Tanisha took this very cool picture tonight. Savannah and Tanisha were taking picture all evening having a lot of fun with the camera.
We finally had rain it rained most of the day. It has been months since we had a good rain. It was wonderful. I worked out in it for a long time until I just became too wet.
The ducks quite enjoyed themselves and the wandered all the way over to the house. They were enjoying them self until Lulu found them.
Savannah and I had tea out on the deck while it was storming. We had a really nice day. The girls did their nails and just hung out. Well it is off to bed now .

Today again was nice and warm. The boys spent a lot of time swimming today. We also managed to squeeze a dentist appointment in which is so good if not Sam would have had to wait until October. We also squeezed a quick walk in while he was at the dentist it was a very warm walk.
Tonight my daughter was on the news with her Smart Step Group. I was so proud of her being part of this group who fund raised a street hockey for kids and all the money they received went to the food bank. They donated over 1200.00. The paper and the news were there when they presented the cheque to the food bank. It is a good program event though it is a lot of running around for us Tanisha will definitely gain from it.
The previews for the movie 2012 are out. That is the show my goats were in. I will send my son and if the girls are actually in it then I may go see it. It looks like a horrible show. I hate scary shows. Go check it out if you see some very bossy Angora goats they are ours.
My son is still in Kelowna on the fires. He said it was very, very hot today. While he was working he stepped on a rattle snake. He said it tried to snap at him. I had to laugh he was not sure if it got him. He would defiantly know if it got him...
We will know if they are going to shut the bush down tomorrow. They may shut it down for a week. We can not afford to be shut down we have only just got back. Man it is hard to make a living. Poor Allan has to get up at 10pm tonight to go to work and that will only get him three loads. That is if nothing goes wrong.
Well I am off to find my two boys and put the coffee on for the truck driver.

When I saw these two sitting here looking tired I knew our day was over. We had so far to go we were still quite aways from the truck plus we had to drive from Stanley Park all the way to Metro. We had very late nights in Vancouver and very early mornings.

Isn't this a peaceful picture hard to believe that some times a storm can come crashing in of the ocean.

Well I've looked in every photo gallery I can find on the Internet that has to do with the Kelowna fires. Every Gallery and not one picture of my son... It is kind of rude when he is out there working so hard. No but seriously I did look at every picture joined Face book groups on the fires just in case I could see him. Pathetic maybe but it is my right as Mom. Mom's have permission or should to do these things. I really do not think anyone quite gets the connection a Mom has to her children No matter what their age it never ever leaves.
Today was very warm here. It is wonderful weather however we could use some rain it is very, very dry.
I have put a lot of photo's into albums nothing fancy just the slip cover ones. I figure it is better to have them like that than in boxes. I am really quite pleased with the amount done. My Mom asked why I am doing so many books of photo's. Again it is a Mom thing if I do not do it who will. Then when I die (that is a bit dramatic) my kids will have wonderful memories along with pictures. And in turn with me keeping pictures it is teaching my kids who will do the same when they have children. Once the moment has past it is too late we missed it.
My poor husband is tired and early shift just started and work is not going smooth, loaders breaking down, sitting in the mill for hours, sitting out at the landing for many, many hours, truck with air leak...
On Sat. we have to go to Prince George to pick up Miss Hyacinth I think it is an eight hour drive one way we will go there and back in one day. Then on Sunday I am off to a Lavender Farm with my friend. We have not finalized our plan but I am sure we will have fun.
Well I must go find a fan my tea is making me disgustingly hot and I am off to cool off.

Look at this great rock at Stanley Park. The evening light was great. Now here is a park just bouncing with people. So many people are out enjoying the sea walk, roller blading. We used to roller blade when the kids were little there. It is really a beautiful place.

Don't you just love these guys. They were so clever to all line in a row.
It has been nice and warm the last couple of days. It suppose to be warmer tomorrow. Good for me but not good for our forests. I just talked to Jordan he is fine. He is camped at a school. It is hard to talk to him as he cuts in and out. I am not sure on that phone the storm I don't think it is all that good.
Today we opened the gates to all our different ducks let them eat grass all day and mix. We want to keep them all together so it is easier to give water and less chores. Tonight is the first time they will spend the night in one area. I need a plan by fall. I hate to loose them to the bobcats Maybe a steel cage bobcat and bear proof.
Today I baked shortbread cookies not a good thing to do as I could eat them all.
I am nursing some pretty bad blisters on my hands from yard work. They do not really hurt but I don't want them to open then they will hurt.
Allan is on early shift he has to go at 11pm. Our whole time feels like night time we are quiet all the time. All afternoon or evening until late at night as Allan is sleeping. Then in the morning as the kids are sleeping. It is weird when I drove into town this evening and people are walking, bike riding, playing. I always think everyone is being quiet or sleeping because we are.

Not a whole lot new here. Other than I am home now we arrived home about 4:30 pm yesterday. I have been catching up a bit.
We are having forest fires again over here. It is really sad to see people loose their homes. The fires are in Kelowna again. My son was called last night so he headed out first thing this morning. It is hard to watch it on the news knowing he is up there. he was very excited to get the call out though. He enjoys fighting fires and making a difference. I will write more later I am on the phone with Miss Hyacinth.

We are finished our goalie school. Sam did well he enjoyed his self. He worked hard, played hard and made new Friends. One of the older boys said add me to face book when you get it. Ummm Sam is only eleven a little while until he gets Face book.
We met some nice people the arena was very busy today little figure skaters, Lacrosse tournament a team from Merritt was there. Where I hear there was a few of the Merritt parents performing...
We are off home tomorrow it has been a good week but it is time to go home.
We have to check out a mountain board / dirt board that Sam has been holding out for. So I am sending his dad off to look in the morning.
Today was a nice day really warm. I guess they had to turn up the temperature to keep the ice cool because it was freezing in the arena.
Ok off to find supper

Crazy Vancouver Driving

A long day at the rink but tomorrow is our last one. It was a good week it has gone well. The driving on the way back to my brother in laws was scary, horrible, at a stand still. Have any of you ever watched people drive they are stupid. That is all you can call them. One lady was driving and had no hands on the wheel moving ahead while holding a paper right up in front of her face reading!! Another lady was playing with her hair that was covering her eyes looking at her friend in the passenger seat while still driving. There many text messaging, talking on cells one lady had her leg up near the window while driving, a semi truck driver had both hands off the wheel eating out of a container as he was still driving... it goes on and on. It actually makes you sick. It is inconsiderate stupid and I have no patients for it. We were nearly hit a few times I could not live here.
Now it is not all bad in the city. Stanley Park is incredible, the malls are awesome and there is LULULEMON. We went to the store three times and one time we just sat down and took it all in to get our fix.
I must get my kids to bed. My poor husband is sound asleep. He is going on two hours sleep. He had to fix the truck last night then go to work. That is as bad as the crazy drivers.

Eight and half hours in an arena...long day.
Two more days of goalie school. Sam is enjoying himself he has made friends. He did want to tell me a boy is selling his hockey pads... they were way too big for him.
We did a quick mall run tonight. Where I was trying to carry four blizzards. Guess what I dropped two of them. I spilled upside down tin roof blizzards all over the Metro town mall right outside Lululemon. Imagine we had a few weird looks!
Blizzards wrong side of the mall dripping by the time the boys had their ice cream it was a slimy mess.

Sam had a good day the camp was hard work but all the young boys teenagers to twenty year olds were so kind really friendly. They seem to really enjoy what they do. We do it all again tomorrow. I hope to put pictures up tomorrow. I am off to bed I will talk to you all soon

Sunday, July 12, 2009

Well I am in Vancouver staying at my brother in laws for the week. We are getting ready for bed as we have to leave by 6:30ish to get to the arena on time. The drive down was not too bad it did not seem to long. My poor husband and daughter are still driving home. It is not very warm down here I hope it is nice tomorrow. We are in for long days. I am sure we can find fun ... I hope to find photo ops. I will write more tomorrow
