Today it was warm and sunny. I was able to work outside all day. An amazing amount of weeding was done in the Lavender gardens. Plus I also painted my youngest sons rabbit cage. It is pretty bright! My kids are nearly home they went up with my Mom and Dad to visit my sister for a couple of days. Today my husband went to pick them up.
We are hoping the Easter bunny finds us tomorrow.
Today I locked all our gates tied up a few dogs then I let our sheep and Alpacas have use of our whole bottom part of our yard/driveway. They were so happy. They ate, they checked things out, and they stood in my flower beds.
At one point I had to run as fast as I could, hide behind the hay shed then tip toe home...all to hide from our bottle baby. They are cute, very, very cute but they can drive you crazy.
Then poor Cowboy our Border Collie he was cornered by a Momma sheep so I had to safe him and let him in the Lavender garden. Where the poor dog then literally sat on my feet or inches away from me on the Lavender plants.

Yesterday the Easter bunny hopped through my kitchen for my husband and I...

Easter time
Posted by Picasa

Oh to be George!
We are in a long weekend .
Easter holiday.
Not the same as usual here but time to get used to it.
Yesterday warmed up and the sun was shining. And, this morning by six am sun is shining again. Finally!
Not too much happening this weekend. Still cleaning, a little farming.
I guess I will have to pack. I leave Friday. I am kind of thinking I should just stay home.
Well off to do chores.
I hope everyone has a lovely day

These girls are all feeling so good.
No more itchy wool.
Their skin can breath.
They can feel the sunshine on them warming them from the cold nights.
I really think they quite enjoy the shearing.
The girls all just sit wait out the five minutes of their hair cut.
However the biggest strongest of them all the RAM he is a big baby. He lets out a mournful cry looks at me with his big eyes. As soon as it is done he skips off to eat in the sun. He really was too funny.

This poor baby had his hair done yesterday. He was so amazing, so good, so happy!
This is Harry he died today.
We found him in the shelter he likes to sleep in.
Our damn weather has been so bloody awful!
I am very sad.
On a farm the reality is animals come and go. Yes I know that. However we do get very attached to some of them. And, Harry was one of them.
When we brought him home my Grandpa loved to whisper (he thought he was keeping it from my dad) :) "Now then how is our new..."... and he would roar with laughter. He loved to here Harry stories.
Sigh... this farming is just getting to damn hard for me.
I cried tonight for Harry. I felt so bad for him.
RIP buddy

It has been a very, very busy weekend. We have had soccer tournaments. We have had hockey tournaments. We have had fencing and so much cleaning. Oh my goodness have we all been working hard. I can't even tell you how hard we having been working. My Dad has decided to fence our top property. Which has made a huge amount of work for him and the boys. We live in a place I swear that grows rocks unbelievable digging. So between a Cat, a tractor with a back hoe and a shovel. Plus my oldest son had to fall a whole load of trees that were Pine beetle kill. The trees were on our neighbors side and he is to old to deal with it. Well I have to go to bed my kids will not give me two minutes to type this. I have been at it for forty minutes now.

Does anyone know what type of birds these are? They came by and had a little drink from our pond the other morning.

Miss Hyacinth was playing in her first home tournament. Yeah I am so proud of her. She is quite shy but she did it. She is pretty sore and tired right now. They have been going full speed ahead since she joined.

Signs of Spring Today you would not know it was Spring. Cold, snow and blowing wind... I am beginning to wonder if it will ever warm up. This week I have been doing an amazing amount of yard work. It seems like it will never end. The mess! Next week the sheep shearer is coming so that will be another good job to be done with. This year I am just throwing out the wool. I find it too expensive to process plus we seem to have these great big burrs in their wool from the hay. Tonight we tagged the last of the lambs. We also banded their tails. So those chores are all done. We tagged the boys with blue tags and the girls with pink. I am not sure how many we will keep or if we will keep any. We have all summer to decide and to watch them grow. We are kind of liking the idea of hair sheep. For one bigger sheep heavier weight and no shearing.

This is a test to see if I have the spell check back. Yes it is back! Now to see if I have any luck uploading pictures.
Still nothing.
Sigh... I am so sick of computers.
I use to quite like this blog but now I am finding it is acting up all the time.
Yesterday was a full outside day. I worked crazy in our front yard. Why does Winter make such a mess!
I raked, piled, burned the whole day. It does look better but still so much to do.
I realized I leave for a holiday in two and half weeks. I am so not ready. I will go and find my suitcase this weekend.
I also have Easter to get organized.
I am waiting on the sheep shearer. Geez this seems like a list of what I have to do. I will come back to see if I can post any pictures. I really should try another blog company. I will give this a week...

Okay I should be up and running within twenty four hours.
It has been a crazy few weeks.
STRESSFUL
I can not tell you enough how crazy it has been. I seem to get one hurdle after another thrown at me. As I get over one I check it off and work on the next one. Unfortunatly they are all full going right now and I can not check off any yet!
I am going to come back when I see this blog is working right.

Monday, April 04, 2011

I must decide in the next day or two if I am going to continue on with my blog or delete it. I have used up my storage space for photos. I have read through the website (it is a little over my head)I could pay but is a blog really worth it? So many decisions or I also could just keep a blog like a diary for myself. That is probably what I will do. Keep doing the blog but only on my computer as a diary and print it out. Well I may try to attempt to a few pictures again and see.

Sunday, April 03, 2011

I am having grief uploading pictures. I can not figure out what to do. So I may go and try to find a new place to write my blog. If anyone has any ideas which one would be a good one to go to let me know by the comments.

Sam and George
I can not figure out why I can not post pictures the normal way.
It sure has been a busy week.
Today we took a day trip to Kelowna. We hit it lucky with the roads still a bit of winter up on the connector though. I did do some birthday shopping we have three birthdays coming up within the next months. I will be away for one of them and ready to travel for two of the others. It is a nice feeling to have it organized.
We still have two ewes to lamb. The sure are taking their sweet time. And, the goats I am not sure what is even going on with any of them. I think I will put the goats in the barn tomorrow and look them over. Our buck was young and on the smaller side so maybe we will have to wait until next year.

Ahh you can not beat a clean house that smells of lemons. I love it when my house is clean. Leaving out here it makes it very, very hard to have a clean house. Hay, dust, dirt, cats and us give you one busy house. It was a very cool day today the temperature was twelve above but it was so cold out and gloomy. A very nasty wind. No more new lambs only three more ewes left to have. I am looking forward to having it over, it sure does drag out.

Sunday, March 27, 2011

I seem to be having trouble posting up pictures to the blogs. Then when I go to see I see I have a bunch that have not worked. So over my head.
Last evening we worked on the far Lavender garden. At first it seems so overwhelming but if I keep at it I can win.
Last night we sat in the dark for an hour for Earth day. It was soo dark we could not see anything. Yes I know we could have had candles but we were not organized.
We are still full head into hockey. Gosh will it ever end.
We also raked some of the yard and burned the piles. I never did figure out how winter makes such a mess.
Well I should go and do some stuff outside have a good day.
This picture was a few weeks ago
Hunter tries sooo hard to be good but he very rarely succeeds.

One of our last snow walks. This is Myrtle. As bad as she looks here, she has been way worse. She is so funny she does not bat an eye she fly, jumps and nose dives all through the snow. She just loves it.

The baby lambs are being so unbelievable cute. They will all run in a little herd, a couple of them will skip across the barn on all four feet. We have a pile of raked hay in the walk way of the barn that they run up and jump. Just now two little boys were heading bunting each other having a little fight. The only thing is one was so small he had to stand on a rubber feeder to reach.
We are at fourteen babies and still have five more to go. Quite slow are these girls.

First two days of Spring one Sunny and today cool and rain.
We have twelve lambs so far. The Ewes are taking their sweet time. S.L.O.W all it is doing is making me tired.
Yesterday we had a wonderful day. We had new baby lambs born. We had bouncing, happy little ones everywhere. We had a weiner roast and ate outside. Did a bit of cleaning.
My daughter made a wonderful strawberry cheesecake. Ahh, yes a very fine day.
We have had full Super moons to enjoy. Really quite a bit is happening.
My one son is in the Provincials for hockey. So far they have one their first game they play again later today. It would be amazing if they won. Fingers crossed for them.

Look at these two cute little babies. Can you see the black spot on the little boys ear?
Posted by Picasa

This little boy is called Champion. He really is quite the character. I have been spending most of my days in the barn. It seems I get one step forward and two back.
I am very tired tonight it was a long night last night.
So our head count so far is eight. We have lost two lambs and one ewe. It is so disappointing to loose an animal. I really hate it.
Spring break starts for my kids last day is tomorrow. It will be a busy week. Our one son is off to provincials. Another son wants to play in a tournament. Middle daughter wants to get her hair streaked. So I am sure the week will go by fast.
Not too much in the Creative department, there is just no time right now.

If we are not bathing Trumpets we are bathing Helmets.
We have been going over my son's equipment to have him ready for the Provincials. We had to buy new gloves, new face mask, pant cover ups, neck guard and these little screw for his helmet. So I am hoping he is all ready now. The play over the Spring break. Dalton is going to be going with another family. If they are winning and it looks like they will be playing in the finals then my husband may head over. It is ten hours away though so we will have to know in good time.

No more babies yet. I tell you those girls are slow. If they would hurry up and deliver their lambs, I could go over with my son for his hockey games.
I have been spending time outside with the rake starting to rake the pine needles. Oh so many pine needles.
I would like to get one Lavender garden done this week. Then slowly start another until I get them all done.

I have been making some mixed medium starfish. The starfish are stuffed full of Lavender. I really think they are cute I will post pictures soon.

My last few days have been so busy and so full of buckets and buckets of stress. They say a person only gets enough stress handed to them as much as they can handle. Well hell I must be made of bloody steel! I can't even write down how much stress is curling its way through my body. Let me just tell you if we could bottle it up it could blow up the universe.
Outside it is raining it started as snow but now it is trying really hard to be wet cold rain.
Our lambing is going slow. We have had one little girl be born on Sunday right after the winning hockey game. So we named her Provincial in honour of the boys hockey achievement.
My Uncle passed away two days ago. It is so sad when someone dies. I feel so sorry for my Dad. Gosh life is rough. I hope my Uncle had a good life and enjoyed his time here on earth.
Well on this rather depressing post I am of to to find something Good and positive to do. Have a wonderful day. Do something wonderful. MAKE GOOD CHOICES

This is our Midget Rep team they are heading of to Provincials. I am very excited for the kids. I wish them good luck, to stay safe and have many, many wonderful memories. I can't see very well as this picture is coming up really small but I am sure Dalton is standing next to one of his coaches in this picture.

Well we are off to the last game of our Midget Rep team. If they win the move onto Provincials if we loose more home time. However don't get  too excited my kids still want to play in the Native junior tournamet, Father Son tournament. ASRA a hockey team that would represent BC. Hmmm no I guess it is not our last game.
I will write later with updates. I have to run and check the sheep before we go. Have a wonderful day. Make somthing Creative for me as  I won't have time today.

Friday, March 04, 2011

Oh my goodness how are weeks flying by so fast. I am sure missing a few days of blogging. Not good but  before I know a few days have gone by. I have been keeping busy by doing a little farming, checking sheep , keeping my barn clean and walking dogs. I seem to have inherited a certain hound dog who really is quite bad. I keep him off by himself last night or we will loose him or he will chase sheep or he will chase goats.
Our weather has been pretty crazy also. One minute a snowstorm, or a windstorm, or rain, or amazing blue skies with the sun shining.
Today we had hockey Dalton had his first game in the last round of playoffs. They lost. One of our boys really hurt his hand and had to be taken up to hospital. It is a good thing his Mom was there she is a paramedic, so he was in good hands.
I had to do the 50/50 and we did okay. We made quite a bit of money.
Well I really should go and find my way to bed. Three am comes very quickly.

Monday, February 28, 2011

What a day, a crazy day. Woke up to a bunch of new snow today. The wind started up and blew and blew the snow, all around which made for a very cold breakfast time for the animals. We put fresh hay in all the beds to help everyone keep a little warmer.
I decided to drive my middle daughter in today as it was just too miserable for her to go in by herself. However it did ease up closer to town. When I went to pull out on the highway the snow was blowing so bad I could not even tell if a vehicle was coming or not.
Miss Nana came out for a visit so we crossed county skied, walked the Beagle, had to salvage a little Yorkshire Terrier (who is determined to be a  big dog). She kept falling into the snow drifts but every so often they were just too deep. We had to haul her out and carry her for a bit.
With the fresh snow and the howling wind we had the most amazing snow drifts. It was if someone had chiseled out the snow or like being on the moon the snow was like craters. It was so incredible I have never seen anything like it here before.
Tonight we put the sheep in the barn. I have been keeping my eye on one ewe so I figured in this miserable weather it is better to have them in the barn where it it dry at night. It is such a cold barn but at least they are out of the wind.
Well I am quite tired so off to bed for me have a good night

This goalie is done. We finished the season. They lost today but man did Sam I am play well. Sooo that means I am sleeping in tomorrow. Don't get to excited we still have practices and heaven forbid if they find extra games.
I watched 1/2 a period but it was way to stressful for me.
We had another busy weekend but I guess we still have tomorrow.
We had to run to Kamloops to pick up parts and pick up my husbands phone. So while he was running his errands I hung out at Chapters and then Micheals.
Well off to bed have a good night.
No new babies yet and thank goodness it is still so cold out.
