My oldest son has learned how to use the bread maker. I love that they want to try this but unfortunately the novelty always goes away.
He makes it then eats the whole thing!!!

First day of Spring and it is not very warm outside. Today we had special visitors our niece and nephew came out to the farm. It was so nice to see them. We are still cleaning, moving rocks, trying to clean our house for our Easter Dinner tomorrow. It would be way easier to clean if the kids were not running in and out with extra friends and with the mud...
I have done little knitting actually I have done little crafting maybe after this weekend or if we ever get caught up outside. I will post pictures tomorrow I need to sleep I am having trouble typing I am so tired. I do hope you enjoyed your day The First Day Of Spring.

HANDBALL

This is my youngest daughter in her hand ball tournament.
It is quite a fun game a little rough but the kids love it.
She smiles through the whole thing.

This morning after I came in from checking the goats it was 4am I went back to bed and within a few minutes ended up with a terrible headache it was so bad I could not sleep lay still and I searched high and low for Tylenol nothing eventually I did find some in my knitting bag. I could not bend over to look or put my socks on I could not deal with the goats it took everything I had to feed the babies. I then went over for coffee with my dad had one sip of coffee and I really thought I was going to be sick but then it passed. My husband and my dad are both sick. It does not really matter if I am sick or not my days still go on and I still manage to do lots. I am definitely winning in my front yard the pond is still frozen but the yard should be ready for the Easter Bunny.
I just came in from checking the goats so I think I will head to bed three hours goes by real fast I check the goats about every three hours or sooner if there is one I am watching.

A young Peacock these birds are quite hysterical they jump, fly bounce into wire not a relaxing bird in captivity.
Today was a good day raking, cleaning, burning piles. I decided yet again the only good Pine tree is on the back of a logging truck... man for Pine needles...
We also got caught up on ear tagging at the barn we wait a few days until the babies are stronger then do the nasty jobs.
We moved feeders used the tractor to clean up winter mess in the barn yard, a little too early for that but still we started. I put the second coat of paint on the China cabinet so I hope to finish the outside of that tomorrow.Sometimes I a not sure where the day goes but it sure goes by fast.
I had a funny thing happen today I went outside to put he goats to bed and I had a goat on her back legs in the air stuck I have seen and heard of sheep doing this but not goats. She looked like an over fed walrus so my middle son went and flipped her over it was quite funny I called him to come do it as my arms were full of hay and he just stood looking at her not knowing what to do. Sometimes it is so funny around here. Yesterday I had my three younger kids in the barn helping, one in RBK (this is a sports name brand) top to bottom outfit all clean bending right over looking at a goats back end telling her it was going to be all right it's just a little hand going up her bottom. He then had my youngest son leaning on him also looking at her back end but he was in full Goalie gear. Then there was my youngest daughter laughing, giggling telling jokes wearing very new looking running shoes trying to keep the dog from jumping in the barn from 7 feet below. All I could do was smile you'd think they were all new to farming.
Well off to get my husband up for work.

Today was a little warmer but you still needed your coat on. This will be just a short post as it is quite late. We just came in from a new baby she is good under heat we got some milk into her so hopefully all will be good till morning... unfortunately the doe that just had is not the doe we have been dealing with all day so now I don't know if i will be all night with her. Gosh I hope not I am quite tired.
I have been painting chairs and china cabinet so I hope to put on a good coat of paint tomorrow I have to hurry and get it done as it is taking over the whole house...again:)
I have been wanting to make a quilt and the only thing stopping me is fear and not knowing what I am doing. So tonight in between going outside with the goats I have been cutting squares I truly do not know what to do so I am winging it. Well I am off to bed for a few hours talk to you all soon.

I painted this lovely bird bath white and it now sits in my hall for a lamp to sit on.

Today was the first day of our two week Spring Break and it was cold, miserable actually it was the wind a very, very, cold wind. I worked out in that wind most of the day. It was trying to snow and it did snow in the night. We have many wiener Roast in the Spring so this was our first one.

I am slowly getting the yard cleaned up from winter and hopefully by the time Easter Bunny comes hopping through it will be all tidy.
Today we rubber banded the baby boy goats that is always an unpleasant job but it is for the best because in the long run a pen full of billy Goats in unpleasant also.
My oldest son and my husband played in a tournament this weekend and their team came first we only went to watch one game.
I started to paint some furniture that I got from my mom's store and we also got our boot room all cleared out so soon we will start laying the new flooring. Actually I am waiting for someone to offer to do it but so far no offer :) So I think it will be me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I should go and do some book work but that just does not sound appealing.

Just a quick note to touch base it is after 11pm and I am very tired. I just came in from outside I was just nicely in the shower when my oldest son called me that he thought there was a baby being born. and I had such HIGH hopes on going to bed but nothing when I was outside. I am keeping my eye on a couple of girls one has been rolling around like a huge walrus so I do hope they hold off till the morning.
When my mom goes away she always leaves me a cheque in case of an emergency... now how does one define emergency... I was wondering if a beautiful white male peacock is considered an emergency... just joking mom. I did see a lovely peacock today he was so beautiful very majestic, with a grand tail and three lovely little feather in the middle of his head.
I did however get Oliver three girlfriends today Oliver is our big fat brown Muscovy duck he is so happy he is flapping his wings, bathing and just plain showing off. I know he is very Happy! I will post pictures tomorrow if there is time. Well off to bed it is calling me.

Ladies in waiting. These girls are waiting so nicely to have their babies.

This is my helper he is such a good help. He sleeps under the heat lamp as soon as we move a baby he knocks off all our paper work, tips the bottles.
This girl is who we steal milk from.

This little girl is our only Cashmere she is also going to have a baby we are a little worried about it, she must have got bred when the bucks knocked down the fence. We had a little bit of trouble yesterday we had a goat walking on our milk stand she then went onto a bench got her foot caught tried to jump off fell down but her foot stayed in the stand and we heard a terrible crack ( I thought it was the bench breaking) She broke her leg poor girl she is a nice big girl. I went and got my oldest son and we made a splint out of two pieces of wood and hockey tape. She is up today but she is not putting weight on her leg. It never seems to quit here always one thing after another.
Tonight while I was at a a school meeting my oldest daughter had to help pull a big buck the mom was a first time mom and had a leg back. It is great how my daughter is figuring it all out.
It's funny I go to these meetings and I look at the other parents and wonder is their life as crazy as ours, are they going on no sleep, are they juggling their time, no supper, some meeting or kid related event every night....
Tomorrow we have to figure out how we are going have my oldest daughter drive to work then meet her friends for dinner and yes it is a big deal she really never has done this before or met her friends since school has been out, my oldest son drive because someone decide the Midget rep has to set up chairs for the hockey awards, I need to drive to get my youngest son to hockey , pick up my daughter from soccer, get my kids to the hockey awards, two of them are getting awards, figure out how to get them supper and have no one home to watch the goats ... will it ever slow down....

Two tiny babies
These pictures make this baby look bigger than it really is.

These babies are all the same age this is one of the tiny twins. They are already filling out.

Sunday, March 09, 2008

Today twins were born I have never seen such tiny babies the two of them together are still smaller than a regular Angora baby. I really did not think they would make it but so far they are alive I just came in from outside and they ate but we can not keep them with their mom with the way it has been going they would die by morning so under the heat lamp they stay. If it slows down tomorrow I hope to get some pictures but all we have been doing is working with babies for a week now.
Today I left my oldest daughter in charge along with middle daughter and oldest son while my husband and I ran to Kelowna to catch my youngest daughters last game of her tournament for first place they lost 3-2 so second is great too. My little darling has decide she wants to be a goalie and I guess she played great all weekend two goalies in one house I don't think I can handle the stress! I had such a terrible time staying awake I fell asleep on the way there and on the way back. How am I ever going to travel around Europe and stay awake I will miss it all. Well I must finish my tea and then hit the hay for a few hours there is a goat looking like she might like to give birth tonight sigh... why not... we should have rules only give birth between 10am and 1pm...

Saturday, March 08, 2008

Hi it has been very busy around here since last night we have had 7 new babies we are at 17 so there has been very little sleep. I'm almost scared to go check them in case I have to stay out! we still a fair amount of ice it is going but it is quite wet in places tonight is the first night some of the babies are sleeping outside and only because I have run out of room in the barn if the moms would get along it would be fine but man some of them are mean.
In between dealing with goats I started on my front yard raking (not sure on that spelling) burning pruning trees, moving rocks scheming on how to get the snakes to hate my yard...maybe a flock of ducks... My husband has been dealing with the hockey as I am to busy to leave the property.
My son and his friend won 1st place with their project and the science fair Dirty Snow and both my son and daughter are going to regionals with their projects so we will see what is involved with that. Well off to finish my tea and try to restart the fire and then must head outside. Have a good night.

This is the Mask I made last night when I went into town it was fun. I just have to put this mask on a stick / wand or I could leave it with it's elastic not that I am going to wear it but it is fun. I could picture so many ideas of different masks but what would I do with them all.
