Storm settle for split over weekendBy Pieter Uni - Campbell River MirrorPublished: October 14, 2008 5:00 PM
Hopefully the Campbell River Storm have reversed the curse.
While their play at home this season does not reflect the same ineptness the Boston Red Sox experienced in the 86-year period from 1918 until 2004 due to the curse of the Bambino, the Storm seemed to have been caught in a hex.
Until this Friday.
The Storm won their second game at home in four tries, and halted a three-game losing streak at Strathcona Gardens with a 5-4 overtime win over the Saanich Braves. Patrick Rogan paced the Storm with two goals on the evening, while Jordan Suzuki notched the winner in the extra frame.
Backup goalie Justin Borsa made 37 saves in his debut with the Storm.
Unfortunately, the Storm couldn’t build on their Friday night win, dropping their second game of the weekend on Saturday night, a 3-2 loss to Oceanside.
Karl Hagg of the Storm opened the scoring early in the game for the Storm, but it was all downhill from there.
Oceanside scored once in the second period and twice in the third while peppering Borsa, who got his second-straight start in net for the Storm, with 45 saves.
The Storm now turn their attention to this Friday, when they host Peninsula.
Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
